SecureFinance Review: Fees, Rates & Who It's Really For (2026)

SecureFinance is a lead-generation platform offering R500-R350,000 loans at 15%-27.5% APR, with fee ceilings spelled out upfront. Here's how it compares to Creditum and Crezu.

SecureFinance advertises personal loans from R500 to R350,000, over terms of 3 to 72 months, at an APR ranging from 15% up to 27.5%. It is not a lender. SecureFinance.co.za describes itself on its own site as "a lead generation platform," which means it collects your application and passes it to a credit provider in its network – it never holds, approves or pays out the loan itself.

That makes it the same kind of service as Creditum and Crezu, the other two loan-comparison brands reviewed alongside it here. What sets SecureFinance apart is who it explicitly says it's for: its homepage carries a "blacklisted welcome" message and tells applicants with imperfect credit it will try to match them with a lender based on their profile, something neither Creditum nor Crezu states as plainly on their own homepages.

What would a SecureFinance loan actually cost you?

SecureFinance is the most specific of the three sites about fees. It names an initiation fee of up to R1,207.50 (including VAT) and a monthly service fee of up to R69, both charged by the lender, while stating SecureFinance itself "charges zero fees." Two worked examples appear on the site: R30,000 over 36 months at up to 27.5% APR works out to an estimated R1,380 a month including interest and fees, and R50,000 over 36 months at 21% APR comes to roughly R2,050 a month. Those numbers include the fees above; SecureFinance doesn't break down exactly how much of each repayment is interest versus fees, so treat them as estimates rather than a guaranteed quote.

FigureSecureFinance's stated range
Loan amountR500 – R350,000
Term3 – 72 months
APR15% – 27.5% (depending on lender and profile)
Initiation feeUp to R1,207.50 incl. VAT, charged by the lender
Monthly service feeUp to R69, charged by the lender

One inconsistency worth knowing before you start: the site's own application form caps the "Loan Amount" dropdown at "Up to R250,000+," which is lower than the R350,000 figure quoted in the site's running text. It's not clear from the page which number reflects what you'll actually be offered, so don't assume R350,000 is available to everyone who applies.

Who can apply, and what does the form ask?

SecureFinance asks for South African citizenship or permanent residency, an age of 18 or older, a valid South African ID, a monthly income, and an active bank account. Unlike Creditum and Crezu, its form explicitly asks whether you're currently under debt review and offers a "Cut My Debt Instalments In Half" option for people struggling with existing repayments. It also lists income brackets starting from "Under R2,000" and includes an "Unemployed" option, which signals the service is built to still attempt a match for lower-income applicants rather than screening them out at the door.

Is it fast?

The form itself claims "60 seconds" estimated time, and the homepage separately says you can apply "in under 5 minutes" from your phone. Beyond submitting the form, SecureFinance doesn't commit to an approval or payout timeframe – it says only that the lender pays out directly once you're approved, so how quickly money actually lands depends entirely on which credit provider accepts your application.

SecureFinance vs. Creditum vs. Crezu

  • Fee transparency: SecureFinance is the only one of the three that names a specific initiation fee ceiling and monthly service fee ceiling on its homepage, rather than a generic "no hidden fees" line.
  • Rate ceiling: At 27.5%, SecureFinance's maximum APR is lower than Creditum's 28% and well below Crezu's 36% – useful if you expect to land at the expensive end of the range.
  • Shortest term: A 3-month minimum beats both Creditum and Crezu's 6-month floor, so it's the only one of the three built for a short-dated loan.
  • Credit-impaired applicants: SecureFinance is the only one of the three that names "blacklisted" applicants and debt-review status directly on its application form.

Who is SecureFinance a good fit for?

It suits someone with a short-term need, a damaged credit history, or a desire to see fee ceilings spelled out before applying rather than discovering them in the small print after. It's a weaker fit if you want the single lowest possible starting rate, since its 15% floor is higher than both Creditum's 11% and Crezu's 12%, and it's not the pick if you need more than R350,000 or want written confirmation of a specific lender before you apply.

Frequently asked questions

Is SecureFinance a lender?
No. SecureFinance describes itself as a lead generation platform that connects applicants with NCR-registered credit providers; the lenders themselves set the rate, term and payout.

Does SecureFinance charge any fees?
SecureFinance says it charges zero fees itself. The initiation fee (up to R1,207.50 incl. VAT) and monthly service fee (up to R69) named on its site are charged by the approving lender, not by SecureFinance.

Can I apply if I'm blacklisted or under debt review?
SecureFinance's form asks about debt review status directly and says it will try to match applicants with imperfect credit to a suitable lender. That's not a guarantee of approval, but it is a more explicit invitation to credit-impaired applicants than Creditum or Crezu make on their own homepages.
